State-of-the-Art Facilities
KMCT School of Design has the finest facilities needed for a Design School. With a tasteful decor to inspire better design sensibilities in students and state-of-the-art equipment to help students realise their ideas into reality, the School has gone the extra mile to make it the finest Design School in Kerala. More facilities are being regularly added up to live up to its name. Here is a glimpse of our current facilities. To experience them first hand you are invited to schedule a visit on prior appointment.
Classrooms with a view
Large spacious classrooms overlooking a verdant valley have individual tables and chairs for students to customise their working environment, ample pinup boards to exhibit their daily assignments, audio-video facilities for presentations and watching short films related to their courses. Students have also been provided locker facilities to keep their belongings safely and use them as and when needed.
Foundation workshop
Foundation students have an exclusive workshop to work with different materials and tools to start their explorations. Students work with Clay, Plaster of Paris, Thermocol, Foam sheets as part of their studies. Small machines and hand tools are provided here on request.
Resource Centre
The Resource centre houses a Library with nearly 500 books to start with covering every aspect of Design. Design-related Magazines, Journals and Newspapers are also available for students to keep abreast of latest trends and practices. Students can also photocopy, scan and take printouts in B&W and Colour upto A3 size at nominal costs. Wire-o-binding facility is also provided.
Refresh, Relax, Refuel
Our rooftop canteen T-Stop is the place to go for for a quick recharge. With fresh air and a 360 degree view of the surrounding hills, this is the place to relax, have some refreshments and connect with friends and faculty over a cup of tea or coffee. Snacks, soft drinks and light meals are also provided.
Tech Lab
Our Tech Lab is already equipped with a Creality 3D Printer, and Meta Quest 3 VR systems to give students a taste of technology early on in their Design journey. More machines being added to the lab include Resin printers, Laser Engravers, Milling machine, Cutting machines, 4K drawing tablets and iPads.
Screening Room
Our air-conditioned mini theatre with excellent projection and surround-sound facilities is often used to screen movies as part of courses. A Movie club is also being planned to screen classic films regularly for the benefit of students after class hours.
Stationery Store
Design students often need many materials for their work which cannot always be planned in advance. We have been thoughtful enough to provide our own Stationery store within the school meeting most of their requirements as and when needed instead of rushing to town daily.
Exhibition Room
Design survives on feedback and iterations. Our Exhibition room has ample space to display their works after every course and also at the end of the semester to invite feedback. Best works of students will also be collected and displayed here for visitors to the school get an idea about the course and curriculum.
Photolab
We are setting up a full-fledged air-conditioned Photography Lab with the latest mirrorless cameras, a wide range of lenses, studio lights, gimbals, 360 degree cameras, tripods, backgrounds and more for students to explore Photography as a medium of communication and also to document their work.
More Labs to Come
A Print lab where you can print anything on paper, cloth or solid surfaces is being planned. A Machine lab with machines to handle wood, metal and other materials is being setup. A Sound lab where you can record, mix and edit Sound for film, video and animation is also on the cards.
